Use the residence number on file, not a full street line. A voter whose information has changed may need to re-register. For a result that still cannot be verified, My Election Gateway directs voters to call 800-881-8683. The county Registrar can also resolve questions that a web match does not answer.

My Election Gateway Is Self-Service
The common myth is that a county voter portal lets anyone search all voter rolls. San Bernardino County's tool does not work that way. It authenticates a person against their own record. The gate protects fields that are useful to the voter but are not offered through a casual name search. Broad voter-file access has a different form, a limited set of lawful purposes, and a review process.

San Bernardino County Voter Record Fields
A matched account holds far more than a yes-or-no status result. My Election Gateway groups identity and contact details with district, ballot, and election tools. It may show the legal name, residence and mailing addresses, contact details, political party preference, voting method, language preference, registration update date, and current status. This is an authenticated self-view. It should not be read as the field set delivered in every approved voter file.

The history line records participation only. It never reveals a ballot choice. District statistics may also show totals by party and voting method, but those figures describe groups rather than an individual's marked ballot.
San Bernardino County Voter Privacy
California Elections Code section 2194 limits voter information to election, scholarly, journalistic, political, or governmental purposes. A permitted voter file can include a name, address where not protected, party preference, status information, precinct or districts, and participation history. It is not an open-ended public list for personal use. Full birth dates, driver license or identification numbers, Social Security numbers, signatures, and ballot choices are withheld.
Confidential by law. Protected voter addresses and records are excluded under Elections Code sections 2166, 2166.5, and 2166.7. The Safe at Home program supplies qualifying participants with a substitute mailing address.
Safe at Home forwards first-class, certified, and registered mail and can act as an agent for service of process. It does not change a person's identity. Its role is to keep a residential address out of government records where the substitute address is accepted. Elections Code section 2166.9 provides a narrow path for certain confidential contact information in bona fide journalistic or governmental work, subject to a Secretary of State determination.
San Bernardino County Registration Statuses
The Registrar's voter registration and list-maintenance information distinguishes active, inactive, and cancelled records. An active record is current for election administration. Inactive status means the county previously verified the record but later received new information that has not yet been verified with the voter. The voter remains qualified to vote in eligible elections, although the record is left off election-material mailing lists.
A cancelled record is no longer valid. This normally follows reliable information that the person is no longer eligible in San Bernardino County. Cancelled entries are excluded from mailing lists and the roster of voters. A failed Gateway match can therefore point to a changed address or list-maintenance issue. It does not prove that a voter record never existed.

San Bernardino County Weekly Voter Counts
The Registrar publishes a Weekly Report of Registration each Sunday. It lists voter totals by political party for all political jurisdictions in San Bernardino County. This is the broad public reporting route when the goal is to study the size and party mix of a district, not inspect one person's account. Certified San Bernardino County Voter Records
A voter may buy a certified copy of their own voter registration application or a certified letter that confirms current or prior registration. The application contains confidential information. The letter does not. Both require an in-person visit to the Registrar of Voters, a completed application, valid government-issued photo identification, and a $1.50 fee for each certified copy or letter.
The Registrar will not provide a certified copy of another voter's confidential application. That rule separates personal proof from the voter-file process used for approved research or public purposes. Request San Bernardino County Voter Files
San Bernardino County sells voter files for election, scholarly, journalistic, political, or governmental purposes. The request is not completed through My Election Gateway. Use the Application for Voter Registration Information linked by the Registrar, identify the permitted purpose, and describe the requested data. The county also offers custom reports and maps under its price sheet.
- Complete every part of the county application and sign it with an original, wet signature.
- Submit it in person or mail it to the Registrar of Voters at 777 East Rialto Avenue, San Bernardino, CA 92415-0770.
- Pay the applicable price by cash, check, money order, cashier's check, or credit card.
A statewide request can instead go through the California Secretary of State voter-file channel. Confidential voter records are not included in public data requests. The state route and county route both enforce the statutory purpose limits, so applicants should define the scope and use with care.

California Voter Registration Use Limits
Elections Code section 2194 bars use of voter data for personal, private, or commercial purposes. Harassment is prohibited. Applicants must stay within the election, scholarly, journalistic, political, or governmental purpose stated on the request. Access to a voter file does not authorize attempts to defeat address protection or expose confidential identity data.
Election tools carry added safeguards. My Election Gateway warns that only the registered voter may request certain ballot functions. A replacement-ballot request made by someone else can be a criminal offense under Elections Code section 3014(a)(2). Certain party-ballot requests made by someone other than the voter can violate Elections Code section 13502(c)(1)(B).
